Status of Toradora (UPDATE: Guin Saga, Asura, and Pandora)
Everyone,
Okay, a lot of people have been asking us about the status of Toradora. Well, there’s not much to say other than the project leader, F10, holding the project to a standstill. We all know that he lost his job, so fansubbing is the last thing he would want to do right now. Currently, episode 23 needs to be TSed and encoded. F10’s supposed to do both, but he is nowhere to be found. As of now, no one else wants to TS it; also, F10 is the only one who has the transport streams, so we can’t do anything about encoding either. Consequently, the project is frozen until we can find another TSer and encoder who would want to do it.
Hopefully, this clears everything up. It’s unfortunate that things turned out this way. It’s up to you whether you’d still wait for our releases or watch someone else’s. Either way, we’d like to apologize to our loyal viewers for the uber slowness.
UPDATE:
Some of you have also been wondering about the progress of Guin Saga, Asura Cryin, and PandoraHearts. Well, Guin Saga and Asura Cryin are still in good shape. The only reason it’s going a bit slower than we would like is because the TL had to take care of some real life issues. If you haven’t noticed, ganstream1 translates both series, so it takes a lot of his time doing both. He’s a dedicated translator, so we are very grateful that we have him.
On the other hand, I don’t really know what’s going on with PandoraHearts. The project has the staff to keep it going; it’s just one of those things where things go slowly for some reason. When I have a concrete reason regarding the slowness, I will update this again.
We are currently in need of Translation Checkers since some of ours are busy with other issues. Some of our projects, such as Asura Cryin, are being held back by the absence of the TL Checker. If you are competent with Japanese and English, please contact us using the form.

That’s bad news, hopefully he’ll be able to get back onto his feet soon. I think fansubbing would be the last thing on his mind.

I hope you find a job soon. The economy sucks these days so it’s hard. I’m also trying to find a job or something I can do for a legitimate consistent flow of income.
In regards to ToraDora…
If AnimeYoshi cannot find a replacement for F10, if F10 doesn’t come back to work on and finish it…
Then so be it. AnimeYoshi has tried their best.
In that sense, we can only hope for another group to do the series. I would assume that maybe a group like THORA would pick up the Blu-Ray edition (if it is ever released in Japan) and use most of AnimeYoshi’s script and then another groups’ releases (if AnimeYoshi doesn’t finish).
Also, what about Ga-Rei Zero DVD episodes?

As far as I am concerned, we have not heard from F10. According to Rizon’s nickserv, he was last seen on May 21 2009. We do hope that everything is turning up okay with him. Should he decide not to return, we wish him the best of luck.

Ga Rei DVDs are still going, but the encoder is nearing (or is at) the time of year for graduation, so he’s been a bit slow.
They’ll most likely be done before July.

Ya, you’re right, you’ve mentioned it in other posts I see now. The only subs I get from AnimeYoshi right now are Toradora subs, so I come to the site irregularly to check up on posts regarding Toradora, I never knew that it had been pre-established that Toradora wasn’t coming for a looooong time. Well, thanks again for all that you’ve done so far!

Second, admin…Would it be possible for you (or any staff) to post more frequent posts? We don’t only need posts for releases of an episode. Posts informing us of issues like this, maybe potential projects being dropped, etc would be nice.

I had the feeling something was going on with Pandora Hearts.
Now, I don’t mean this in any sort of troll, but seeing AniYoshi’s activity for the past year or so, dropping an anime after the 1st episode isn’t anything rare for the group. I’m not assuming you dropped Pandora Hearts or anything, however, if you do, it wouldn’t be surprising. Your decision of course.
Though I wish the group the best of luck.

Some of the staff could potentially update the site more often, but then we should really be spending that time working on the eps or ensuring our RLs maintain some level of stability. Do you REALLY expect us to update everyone on every little minor detail as to why something is taking a little longer than usual?

TS stands for typesetting, not translation. All the episode have been translated.
Now, let me ask you something. Why are all of you waiting for us instead of watching CoalGuys? Because our Toradora is higher quality. So there’s no point in us releasing an unedited, unqced, unstyled .srt or .ass; if you want that, you might as well get CoalGuys.

First, Toradora isn’t what comes up first when you search AniYoshi in google. Second, the only way to gauge our most popular show is through our download count. Judging by that, Toradora is average at best. Ga Rei Zero, Guin Saga & School Days are our most popular projects.

Oh, and fyi google search works by “crawling” the website and feeding itself a context from that.
In AniYoshi’s case, google throws an excerpt from the “News” as it’s description for AniYoshi.net
It’s a bit more indepth than how I described it, but it explains why “Here it is”/”Enjoy” appears in the google block of text, and several times on the new-page.

Thanks for sharing the news with us. It’s a welcome change to see a group giving a status update like this. Hopefully, it should also stave off some of the ‘ZOMG wharez my SuBz??1?!’ posts. Hope F10 gets back on track – I know how he feels – I’m in the same situation at the moment and it sucks.

I’m pretty sure everyone is just hoping it doesn’t get dropped when it’s already almost done. Converting to another fansub group near the end of the season/show… well, you should know how people would feel about that.
I’m also sure we’re all hoping it’ll finish by the end of summer. If not, hopefully funimation picks it up around fall because they have good subs.
