I apologize again for not posting about this one… But then again, considering it’s been out for ~11 hours now it’s not like it’s going to matter. Nevertheless, for the sake news posting, I will post this reminder. I don’t follow Persona so I don’t know what’s going on.
Enjoy!

I think AnimeYoshi should drop this Fansub, Ainex is already fan subbing it and they are on episode 22….. I would drop it and focus more on other animes. You might even catch up with the release dates instead of posting weeks after the air date. Same with Soul Eater. GGKThx and Anime Enlightenment Network are both subbing it. Whats the point of AnimeYoshi subbing it? They have Episode 9 on Soul Eater out. Dropping them might help. But what do i know? I only watch Anime….

@Firewalker
Have you tried comparing AnimeYoshi with Ainex?
Generally Ainex is for those who want to watch their animu fast, i.e. a speedsub group. AnimeYoshi takes a bit longer but has a noticeably better quality. I personally appreciate AnimeYoshi’s Persona release, and would only go with Ainex if they were the only subbers.

AnimeYoshi does do a good job with the subbing, but why sub an Anime that other fansub sites are subbing? The time between each release is always varying… It took about 53 days between the release of episode 7 to episode 8…Don’t you think that is a little bit lengthy? Almost 2 months? And i understand they are short staffed but come on…. I like AnimeYoshi, Kaze no Stigma is one of my favorite animes. And i think AnimeYoshi could go far with fansubbing, but seriously 53 days?

I understand that we are way behind on some of our projects, including Persona. However, as long as everyone agrees to work on them, we won’t drop them. We like to finish what we started. Hence, “dropping” a project will only be discussed if the situation is truly grave.
Also, I take it you watch whoever releases an episode first. Most of the fansub groups you mentioned are speedsubbing groups.

@Firewalker
AY had different staff for each project, if they are not slow it’s not because the staff are busy working on other project, it simply because they hadn’t finish the job, like Soul Eater the reason why it’s so late is because they had encoding problem, the result is not good so they keep on trying to encode it to achieve best result
and GG doesn’t sub Soul Eater, they are just subbing 1 eps for fun because there is no Geass that week, if you want faster reliable sub for Soul Eater go for Rumbel and not to talk bad about ainex cause I also watch their release, their timing is sometime a bit off, and weird translation

* i mean if they are slow

the main reason why persona is slow, is because of the translator, and it seems like there will be a new one for ep10+

@Firewalker
My God, I hope you’re struck by a lightning bolt!
Why sub an anime that other groups are subbing? Because the other groups SUCK! Well, their translations do, to be more specific.
You mentioned Ainex and Persona… have you ever TRIED to understand what’s going on in the show? If you did, you’d realize their translations and editing are awful and really subpar compared to AnimeYoshi.
So what if Ainex is at ep 22? So what if AnimeYoshi is at ep 9? What, do you think people watch that anime only during the period it’s aired? Do you think people never watch old, already aired anime? Do you think people never care about what’s being said in the anime, as you apparently do? If the answer to all those is yes, you seriously need to reconfigure your thinking to take other people than yourself into account.
Some people actually don’t care if a group releases an episode long after other groups do. After all, why do you think there’s a distinction between speedsub and qualitysub groups?
Speedsub - sub it now, figure out what they’re saying later.
Qualitysub - take as long as needed, just make it perfect.
You apparently prefer the former. That’s your taste, although I’m seriously wondering why you’re not watching RAWs in this case cause in the end it’s almost the same effect. However, try to realize other people have other tastes. You’re not the center of the world, you know.
Even if AnimeYoshi dropped Persona, the move will probably have no effect on other releases. As Hyuver here pointed out, AnimeYoshi has different staff for each project (although some projects have some staffers in common). Fansub groups usually take into consideration how many projects they can take before each one is hindered and slowed down.
Remember, first is not always best in the fansub scene. Why do you think some groups make releases long after the anime even aired? And yes, this is a pretty common phenomenon. The general rule with anime is that, if you want quality subs, you have to wait some considerable amount of time after the episode or anime aired to get it (this is, of course, unless some of the famous groups out there picked it up, such as Eclipse, as they release quality subs much faster than even speedsub groups do!).
Are you saying that if someone is already subbing the anime (even if the subs are very, very poorly done), then there is absolutely no need for another group? Some people just don’t like reading illiterate English and poor, waaay off translations, as you might like to, you know?
By your logic, if I’d go and establish a fansub group, take on a show and just put random words and characters in my subs without any regard whatsoever as whether it’s even legible or not (not to mention if the translations are even remotely correct), then there is absolutely no need for another group to come and pick it up. Everyone, especially you, would be extremely satisfied with it, right?
I know Persona is already subbed by some other groups, but just look at them! Almost all the groups there have horrible translations. AnimeYoshi is really the ONLY quality fansub group for Persona out there ever since Shinsen Subs dropped the show. A lot of people might depend on AnimeYoshi to actually understand what’s going on with the show, and this is especially true for fans of the Persona series, especially the ones who played and liked Persona 3, as Trinity Soul is a sequel to it.
I, at least, know that I rely on AnimeYoshi very much to understand the show. Sure, I watch Ainex to get a peek at what’s going on, but their translations are totally unsatisfying. If AnimeYoshi, too, drops this one, then the show might not have even existed for all I care. What’s the point in watching if I can’t understand very much?
Sorry if my reply seemed harsh, but it just seems to me like your reply is arrogant and very inconsiderate of the circumstances and other people’s opinion. The message you seem to be sending is “Listen, this is my opinion and I am always right so it is actually a FACT and you should do as I say. Besides, everyone agrees with me, so there’s no point in even asking them.”. It doesn’t help that you sometimes seem to be sarcastic, either.

I absolutely agree with Cloud. I only watch Ainex’s releases because right now there are very very few options left if I want to see the show. But to be honest, it’s really hard to follow what’s going on when the translations don’t make any sense.
That’s why even now I’m patiently waiting for AnimeYoshi’s releases no matter how long it may take while hoping they won’t drop the series. Honestly, if AY were to drop Persona, too, I might as well say good bye to the series as speedsubs just won’t do. I’d prefer quality over speed anytime.
June 10th, 2008 at 12:50 pm 12
well, i download both. I’m impateint and i’m loving the series so i download ainex right away, but i dont hold on to those files. i download AY and save all those files and will end up watching the show again once AY finishes the series.

I’ve got some good news, we found a new TL and he already translated ep10 & ep11 so we might get ep10 out this weekend.
June 12th, 2008 at 5:39 am 14
That’s great news, Spinal!
Hehe, glad you’re back on track.
Most people seem to be satisfied by as little as random gibberish, it seems. I seriously wonder why they watch fansubs and don’t just get the RAWs in this case.
@PersonaFan
Heh, glad to see I’m not the only one who likes quality subs.
Oh, and if anyone wants proof of why Ainex’s subs are really waaay off, then read this.

Although it’s unrelated to Persona, does Crystal Blaze still need a translator? Just curious, that’s all.
June 12th, 2008 at 1:48 pm 16
I think we do need a new translator for crystal blaze. The current TL said he was going to do ep4 but its been almost 2 weeks since he said that. -_-
June 12th, 2008 at 1:54 pm 17
Well you did mention in the Persona 08 / CB 03 post (May 29th) that both series were stalled because both of their TLs disappeared.
Thanks the quick response.
