That’s right folks! We’re now using WordPress 2.5. There are various reasons why we decided to switch–easier content management being the main reason. Before, the HTML and PHP files would have to be edited manually. But now, everything is generated dynamically, thus rendering manual editing unnecessary.
This system also makes use of some “Web 2.0″ technologies. Throughout the site you’ll notice a couple of AJAX-powered elements, which includes:
- Live commenting system
- Lightview-Plus Lightbox 2 enabled images
- Live search system
- Pagination
- Poll system
As of now, everything should work correctly. If you notice any bug or something strange, please leave a comment or email me at webmaster@animeyoshi.net.
Tested on:
- Firefox 3 Beta 5
- Safari 3.1.1 for Windows
- Opera 9.5 (Kestrel) [there are some Javascript issues that affect the AJAX functionality]
Out of all these three, Safari 3.1.1 provided the best performance, especially on the Javascript side. In particular, the animation when opening images is much smoother in Safari.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Gravatar is supported.
First and in b4 suiton
Well, while the new website definitely was prettier (probably the best looking of any fansub group I know of), I guess functionality comes first. And I noticed WordPress seems to be gaining popularity so the change might be for the best…
What I meant to say was “while the _old_ website definitely was prettier…”. >_<
@MaccaSvenne:
Indeed, the old website looks prettier. In fact, I ported the old site’s design to WordPress; however, I couldn’t replicate the functionality I wanted. Since the theme/framework we’re currently using is based on K2, there are some pretty neat features that’ll make managing the contents easier.
I think that old website was good but new is good ass well ^^ we cant have all the time the same things ^^ its time to change samfing ^^
What a great blogg this is. I could not agree more with what I have read here today. I too have made similar experiences to what I learned here and now run a successful online business. But I am forever reading bloggs to learn more about what is “out” there.
